INFORMATION VITAL FOR HOME OWNERS WHEN DEALING WITH HVAC CONTRACTORS THIS SUMMER

Finally consumer checks to evaluate home and business HVAC systems. Here are terms to remember, expected values, test results, and test equipment required.
TERM : Information:
Supply air : Measure from a grill closest to indoor unit (45 to 48) degrees.
Relative humidity: Measure using a humidistat in the area close to the filter.
(40-50%)
Split: Measure the supply air from the grill closest to the unit, them measure the air entering the filter. (16- 22 degrees) This reading is much more important than the thermostat setting.
Run time: Summer run time should be about 12 hours at 90 degrees and the evening low of 70 degrees with the thermostat set at 75 degrees Fahrenheit
Questions to test the competency of the repairman.
What is the sub Colling of my unit? (10 to 18 degrees)
What is the superheat of my unit? ( 10 degrees at the evaporator, 20 to 25 degrees near the compressor.
Every building should have a log book handy to record repairs including dates, description of repairs, cost and don't forget warranty. Every repair should include at least 30 days warranty; this is the reason for the log book.
Always ask for manufacturers warranty, that could be up to 5 years. To determine if your unit is covered by manufacturers warranty, simple find the serial number attached to the unit and call the manufacture.
Required: Laser thermometer, Amazon, Home depot,
Harbor freight tools. I use the Field piece Sig1. You get the idea. A humidity tester, I use the fluke 971 there is not much difference between these testers. I use the professional brands. In fact my fluke 971 measures both temperature and humidity.
Now that we customers are armed lets regain customer power against HVAC companies this summer.
Tell me your experience on this site https://lnkd.in/gtkcXqci, want more ideas? request from this site or from face book.
Good luck.
